Of the many fields available, my area of interests includes data mining, data analytics. These are few areas that I developed interests due to the several projects works done here in this fields since my master’s and now at my job too. The projects I have worked as an Abinitio Developer- ETL, these projects besides nourishing myself with the knowledge about data analytics, sowed in seeds of interest in this area. Since pursuing PhD in this field would deepen my understanding in this area and this would further help me to apply this knowledge at my work. Also, data analytics is taking a center stage slowly due to its widespread application in various fields including business. Therefore, this would give me an edge over others in terms of latest technology and would always lend me a helping hand in case I switch to different professions. In fact to nurture this incessant quest of learning, besides several courses that formed a part of my academic works, I have done few online courses like SQL, Abinitio, Scala and Spark that supplicated me with additional information that were an asset to my current profession. Keeping all this mind I felt that taking a concrete degree namely PhD in this field would certainly blossom my academic as well as my professional development too.

Information Technology has been the backbone for most technological developments happening around the world. For instance, the error coding schemes, the modulation techniques that are a part of the communication industry traces its roots here under this bigger umbrella. Not only does this confine till here, this field is even more vast with lots of scope to develop and deal with. As I mentioned before, this field provides adequate technologies that are needed to be used in the other fields such as business. Since data is common in every field, the manner in which they are processed and interpreted makes all the difference. Like how the waste can be recycled to make the best, the unnecessary data too can be processed in such a way that they can be used in a better and efficient manner. Due to these reasons, I personally wanted to dig deeper, learn more in these domains.

Moreover, to make this learning process easier and compatible, the University of Cumberland provides a harmonious platform for me to learn at the same time implement the same in my work too thereby providing twin benefits. Since PhD is completely research oriented, the knowledge I receive from this will enable me to learn more and implement the knowledge in this job with ease and bring my experience from job to this field. In this way it makes me a holistic person.

My strength lies in my concentration, hard working nature, determination and perseverance. It is a known fact that PhD requires infinite tolerance, patience and hard work to get better results, I had been involving in several new projects at work that needed infinite tolerance to get better results and meet the requisite demands. The research work is equally hectic that needs to be dealt with ease else the entire idea of pursuing PhD will be futile. Also, my greatest strength is my ability to multi-task different works and bring out best in everything. For instance, at my master’s level I had been assigned with the submission of two data analytics projects and an exam to be studied for within a short span of time. By systematically scheduling myself I did the projects as well as the exams very efficient secured the maximum points possible. This single instance testifies my multi-tasking and working ability. Next would be my ability to work alone as well as in a team. In other words, I’m completely adaptable to all sorts of situations and environments. These strengths in me make me an ideal candidate to pursue PhD.

I don’t have any weakness but certainly few limitations such as hastiness, that is do things quickly and I’m currently working on that to make myself less impulsive.

The future of Information Technology is very vast- it finds its very useful in a variety of areas from computer science to business thereby equipping oneself to suit better in any jobs that one undertakes. In computer science it is used in for traditional purposes such as analyzing the data and interpreting and making best of it. But it is a matter fact and very curious to see this field diverging to various domains providing livelihood to all in all fields. It’s a simple yet crucial king maker in the lives of mines.

Obtaining a degree from this esteemed university itself is honor in disguise. The degree fetched from here would serve different purposes: promotion to a higher position in my existing job, get hired to a better and a high paying one than before, step into teaching and researching professions and thereby contribute profusely to this country as well as the technological field as such.
