The stage includes the review of the work assignments and their support for the incident action plan objectives which aim at the treatment and containing the Severe Acute respiratory syndrome. The assignments are prepared based on the incident action pan objectives so as to ensure that they are well covered. The assignments revolve around quarantine of the patients and preventing further spread of the disease, the emergency location center will be used to treat the patients, and review of the incident action plan is done by the assistant safety officer which ensure that the response to such an incidence will be more advanced in future.

The worksheet is developed to ensure that there are no gaps in the implementation of the incident action plan, the worksheet also act as a means of ensuring that there is no duplication of assignment and each assignment serves a single incident objective. The assignments are coordinated by the chief manager of the fire and emergency services, this ensures that there is no conflict in the implementation of the assignments (Smeby, 2014). The resource requirements are identified in the planning stage and resource identifiers assigned to each assignment, this will ensure that the resources are well identified and accounted for by the response team.

The resources are availed by the logistics team, they are responsible for securing the resources and availing them at the site. The location fell short of identifying the exact locations where the emergency location will be located and the hazard areas the changes will be incorporated appropriately. In this stage, the preparedness of the emergency teams is gauged and corrective measures taken on the deviations.

Training of personnel in the fire and emergency department

It is very essential to continuously reinforce skills and knowledge in the field of emergency services and emergence management, the personnel in this department deals with saving the human life during emergencies and therefore the need for the most effective and efficient response measures. Constant training of the employees will ensure that they are updated on response skills that are needed in each incident. The tools and resources used in emergency situations are also being improved over time, this calls for new training of the personnel on how to use the new tools and equipment’s in an efficient and effective manner. The national incident management also keeps on updating the requirements of fire and emergency department as the major regulator of these activities, the personnel will, therefore, require constant training to be updated on the changes on emergency responses.

The emergency department needs to train their personnel appropriately depending on the kind of emergency, for instance, the fire department will have to be trained in how to evacuate fire victims while trying to extinguish the fire at the same time, the medics need to be updated on the first id measure that will lead to serving the affected individuals effectively and efficiently (Ahmad, 2014). A drill is a simulation process through which emergency personnel is trained on how to handle real incidents. Through drills, the fire and emergency personnel are able to acquire and sharpen their skills in response to the incident under simulation. The drills also help the public to be educated on how to coordinate with the emergency personnel when responding to a similar incident and this makes the response to be more effective in terms of time and resources used.

The other form of training is for the new members of the fire and emergency department. Although most of the new personnel have training in the field, they sometimes lack job experience and therefore they might be less effective in saving lives in case of emergencies, it, therefore, calls for on job training of the new personnel to ensure that they are familiar with the roles which they are assigned in case of an emergency.

Professional development is the improvement of the providence of the emergency services in a professional way during emergencies. The need to raise the standards of emergency response personnel calls for the upgrading of their training both before and after employment. The training institutions should be regulated by a single body which will ensure the overall quality of fire and medical emergency services (Walsh, 2012). The body should be responsible for on job training of their personnel to ensure that changes in the emergency response requirements are incorporated both to new and old employees. There should be a subscription to professional bodies that which are made up of fire and emergency personnel and will keep track of the right skills and competencies of the members. Finally, to increase professional development in emergency services and emergency management, there should be regular inspection of the emergency departments on their ability to respond to the incidences and their corresponding capacity to ensure efficiency and effectiveness during incident response.

There is a need for regular training in fire suppression and emergency response teams to ensure that their skills are updates and match the job requirements. Drills and the job training will help in improving services delivery in this departments.
