Introduction

This text is a research proposal that aims at studying how Google translates words and its challenges. Google translation has evolved significantly and can now translate different languages. This tool has been used by Google users who can even make suggestions to make the tool better. Due to cultural diversification across the globe, the tool has experienced some major translation challenges making it unreliable.

Aim of research on this problem.

The purpose of this research is to understand the role of Google in translation. Google online translation is a tool that has helped in online translation. It is now easier for Google users find the meaning of a word with very little efforts. However, at times online transaction can be irritating when it does not give the right meaning of a word. This research proposal tries to evaluate the advantages and the disadvantages of online translator as well as the impact it has made on communication and language understanding (Minteer, 2017).

Background from which the problem comes.

Over the years, Google translation has been developed but it is not yet perfect as it should. It is challenging to use the tool at times because it does not produce the right results. Online translation may not be accurate and consistent. At times the tool can give contradicting meanings of the word. On the other hand, the tool does word to word translation and sometimes does not translate idioms and broader meanings properly. When wrong information is given, then it means that the user might be misled and might take a longer time in trying to figure out the accurate meaning of the words (Štular & Vrbinc, 2018). The online translation tool don’t have a mental outlook the same way a human translator does. The tool lacks superior preciseness exactness which can be used to read documents and correct the document for accuracy. The translation is inferior and cannot be trusted to provide the right meaning of words. There are many pragmatic problems that arise when using Google translation. For example translating a text from French to English. This means that Google Translate is not reliable. In some cases the Google translation has been accused of reproducing words incorrectly on the online platforms. Google translator also experiences strong cultural bias which complicates the whole process (Šarčevič, 2015).
