Prompt:

Many first-year college students lack the necessary skills to transition from high school to college. Write a persuasive essay for these new college students using “Class in the Classroom” to convey to them that the information inside is integral to being successful in college.

Instructions:

Write a 300--500 word persuasive essay in MLA format using “Class in the Classroom” by Joshua Halberstam as reference. Submit your work in the appropriate link on eCampus by 10/13/2020.

Hints:

If I were to write a persuasive essay to convince readers that one should become a police officer, then the entire essay will focus on the pros, or positive features, only. The 3 bodies of the essay would the 3 reasons as to why one should pursue police officer as a career with valid supporting details.

Reason 1: One should pursue law enforcement as a career because of the high salary and low education required. Most officers earn $55,000 or more with a 2-year associate degree. [Expand on this idea for a fully developed paragraph.]

Reason 2: One should become a police officer because of the ranges of jobs available within law enforcement that one could pursue. In other words, one can choose to become a detective, crime scene investigator, or various other positions. The job allows freedom to explore one’s talents. Reason 3: One should become a police officer because of the prestige and honor that come with the job. Being a police officer in one’s community will allow him or her to make a positive impact, while protecting the citizens. [Expand on this idea for a fully developed paragraph.]
