This portfolio consists of four (4) sections:

- Full sentence outline (5mks)

- First draft before correction (10mks)

- Final paper (10mks)

- Analysis of elements (17mks)

Assignment: (25mks)

1. Students will write a five (5) paragraph persuasive essay on a topic given by the teacher. 2. Develop the thesis statement.

4. Write the first draft of the essay.

5. Submit first draft and highlight the errors before the corrections. Proofreading marks should be present on the draft (underlining, cross-outs, and insert arrows for example).

5. Create and submit an outline for the essay.

6. Students should edit the paper making all corrections.

Analysis of persuasive and other writing elements (17 mks)

1. On the final paper, students should identify the following elements by using the instructions given:

- Bold the attention grabber (1mk)

- (Enclose the thesis statement in parentheses) (2mks)

- Number the three main points (3mks)

- Italicize the topic sentence in each paragraph (3mks)

- Double underline one persuasive device used in each body paragraph and in the margin, name the underlined device. (6mks)

- In the conclusion, (enclose the restated thesis statement in parentheses). (2mks) Total points = 44
