Plant-based diets are the healthiest diets for the individual and the planet
It is important to note that a plant-based diet refers to plants such as fruits, seeds,
vegetables and legumes among many others. A plant-based diet can also include dairy and eggs,
but the focus is on plants. Moreover, there exist various justifications for you to choose a plant-
based diet. Plants are a rich source of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. They are low in
calories and fat, and high in fiber. Eating a diet rich in plants has been connected with a lower
risk of heart-related problems, hypertension, blood sugar problems and cancer. Plants are also
good for the environment. They require less water and land to grow than animals, and they emit
fewer greenhouse gases. If you’re thinking about making the switch to a plant-based diet, there
are a few things to keep in mind. First, you’ll need to make sure you’re getting enough protein.
Plants are a great source of protein, but you may need to supplement with a protein
powder if you’re very active. Second, you’ll need to make sure you’re getting enough iron.
Plant-based diets tend to be lower in iron than diets that include meat, so you may need to take
an iron supplement. Finally, you’ll need to make sure you’re getting enough vitamin B12. This
vitamin is found in products from animals and this means that you’ll have to incorporate a diet

that is rich in vitamin B12 or even a supplement. Making the switch to a plant-based diet is a
great way to improve your health and help the environment. With a little planning, you can make
sure you’re getting all the nutrients you need to thrive. Additionally, many plant-based foods are
delicious and easy to prepare. So why not give it a try? (Serrao, 2018).
