Personal Statement‌ ‌ ‌

I‌ ‌am‌ ‌applying‌ ‌to‌ ‌your‌ ‌Master‌ ‌of‌ ‌Science‌ ‌in‌ ‌Athletic‌ ‌Administration‌ ‌program‌ ‌with‌ ‌the‌ ‌goal‌ ‌

of‌ ‌building‌ ‌on‌ ‌my‌ ‌previous‌ ‌experiences‌ ‌and‌ ‌preparing‌ ‌for‌ ‌my‌ ‌career.‌ ‌I‌ ‌have‌ ‌recently‌ ‌

received‌ ‌my‌ ‌Bachelor‌ ‌of‌ ‌Arts‌ ‌degree‌ ‌in‌ ‌General‌ ‌Studies‌ ‌/Sports‌ ‌Managements‌ ‌from‌ ‌

Southern‌ ‌New‌ ‌Hampshire‌ ‌University.‌ ‌Due‌ ‌to‌ ‌my‌ ‌strong‌ ‌interest‌ ‌in‌ ‌sports,‌ ‌I‌ ‌received‌ ‌the‌ ‌

opportunity‌ ‌to‌ ‌do‌ ‌my‌ ‌internship‌ ‌with‌ ‌several‌ ‌universities'‌ ‌athletic‌ ‌departments.‌ ‌I‌ ‌had‌ ‌the‌ ‌

chance‌ ‌to‌ ‌learn‌ ‌how‌ ‌each‌ ‌department‌ ‌functions‌ ‌on‌ ‌a‌ ‌day-to-day‌ ‌basis‌ ‌and‌ ‌was‌ ‌able‌ ‌to‌ ‌

develop‌ ‌a‌ ‌good‌ ‌relationship‌ ‌with‌ ‌faculty‌ ‌and‌ ‌staff.‌ ‌From‌ ‌this‌ ‌experience,‌ ‌I‌ ‌combined‌ ‌my‌ ‌

years‌ ‌of‌ ‌coaching‌ ‌and‌ ‌mentoring‌ ‌student‌ ‌athletes‌ ‌to‌ ‌become‌ ‌successful.‌ ‌

I‌ ‌would‌ ‌like‌ ‌to‌ ‌acquire‌ ‌a‌ ‌more‌ ‌thorough‌ ‌understanding‌ ‌of‌ ‌Athletic‌ ‌Administration‌ ‌through‌ ‌

the‌ ‌Masters‌ ‌of‌ ‌Science‌ ‌in‌ ‌Athletic‌ ‌Administration‌ ‌in‌ ‌your‌ ‌graduate‌ ‌program.‌ ‌I‌ ‌would‌ ‌like‌ ‌

to‌ ‌fill‌ ‌the‌ ‌gap‌ ‌and‌ ‌gain‌ ‌more‌ ‌knowledge‌ ‌through‌ ‌advanced‌ ‌studies.‌ ‌In‌ ‌order‌ ‌to‌ ‌build‌ ‌a‌ ‌

broader‌ ‌perspective‌ ‌and‌ ‌more‌ ‌practical‌ ‌skills,‌ ‌I‌ ‌served‌ ‌as‌ ‌a‌ ‌Teaching‌ ‌Assistant‌ ‌in‌ ‌the‌ ‌

public‌ ‌school‌ ‌system‌ ‌as‌ ‌well‌ ‌as‌ ‌a‌ ‌coach‌ ‌on‌ ‌different‌ ‌sports‌ ‌teams.‌ ‌In‌ ‌addition,‌ ‌I‌ ‌am‌ ‌a‌ ‌

member‌ ‌of‌ ‌the‌ ‌NIAAA‌ ‌and‌ ‌NFHS‌ ‌athletic‌ ‌organizations,‌ ‌and‌ ‌I‌ ‌collaborated‌ ‌with‌ ‌other‌ ‌

members,‌ ‌coaches‌ ‌and‌ ‌athletic‌ ‌directors‌ ‌to‌ ‌help‌ ‌with‌ ‌ideas‌ ‌to‌ ‌drive‌ ‌education‌ ‌and‌ ‌

sports‌ ‌in‌ ‌a‌ ‌different‌ ‌direction.‌ ‌

As‌ ‌mentioned‌ ‌above,‌ ‌my‌ ‌career‌ ‌goals‌ ‌began‌ ‌to‌ ‌really‌ ‌take‌ ‌shape‌ ‌during‌ ‌my‌ ‌last‌ ‌

internship‌ ‌with‌ ‌the‌ ‌marketing‌ ‌and‌ ‌sponsorship‌ ‌department‌ ‌at‌ ‌one‌ ‌of‌ ‌the‌ ‌universities‌ ‌I‌ ‌

visited.‌ ‌They‌ ‌help‌ ‌me‌ ‌to‌ ‌organize‌ ‌and‌ ‌implement‌ ‌conferences,‌ ‌networking‌ ‌and‌ ‌

fundraising.‌ ‌I‌ ‌was‌ ‌also‌ ‌responsible‌ ‌for‌ ‌promoting‌ ‌activities,‌ ‌contacting‌ ‌students‌ ‌and‌ ‌

teachers‌ ‌along‌ ‌with‌ ‌alumni‌ ‌to‌ ‌arrange‌ ‌various‌ ‌activities.‌ ‌In‌ ‌the‌ ‌process‌ ‌of‌ ‌working‌ ‌on‌ ‌

these‌ ‌events,‌ ‌I‌ ‌developed‌ ‌my‌ ‌leadership‌ ‌and‌ ‌organizational‌ ‌skills,‌ ‌and‌ ‌I‌ ‌have‌ ‌gained‌ ‌

some‌ ‌insight‌ ‌into‌ ‌what‌ ‌I‌ ‌expect‌ ‌to‌ ‌do‌ ‌for‌ ‌my‌ ‌future‌ ‌career.‌ ‌

Now,‌ ‌I‌ ‌believe‌ ‌that‌ ‌I‌ ‌am‌ ‌well-prepared‌ ‌for‌ ‌the‌ ‌challenge‌ ‌in‌ ‌the‌ ‌MS‌ ‌in‌ ‌Athletic‌ ‌

Administration‌ ‌graduate‌ ‌program.‌ ‌I‌ ‌am‌ ‌currently‌ ‌working‌ ‌at‌ ‌a‌ ‌High‌ ‌School‌ ‌as‌ ‌a‌ ‌Security‌ ‌

Assistant‌ ‌which‌ ‌gives‌ ‌me‌ ‌a‌ ‌chance‌ ‌to‌ ‌work‌ ‌around‌ ‌high‌ ‌school‌ ‌students‌ ‌during‌ ‌different‌ ‌activities‌ ‌and‌ ‌sporting‌ ‌events.‌ ‌I‌ ‌am‌ ‌eager‌ ‌to‌ ‌contribute‌ ‌my‌ ‌knowledge‌ ‌and‌ ‌experiences‌ ‌

to‌ ‌the‌ ‌students‌ ‌who‌ ‌will‌ ‌continue‌ ‌learning‌ ‌how‌ ‌to‌ ‌use‌ ‌their‌ ‌talents.‌ ‌After‌ ‌completing‌ ‌my‌ ‌

studies,‌ ‌I‌ ‌hope‌ ‌to‌ ‌gain‌ ‌a‌ ‌place‌ ‌within‌ ‌the‌ ‌athletic‌ ‌department‌ ‌on‌ ‌the‌ ‌university‌ ‌or‌ ‌high‌ ‌

school‌ ‌level.‌ ‌

My‌ ‌goal‌ ‌is‌ ‌to‌ ‌combine‌ ‌college‌ ‌athletic‌ ‌experience‌ ‌with‌ ‌the‌ ‌public‌ ‌schools’‌ ‌athletics.‌ ‌I‌ ‌

believe‌ ‌this‌ ‌will‌ ‌give‌ ‌all‌ ‌college‌ ‌students‌ ‌who‌ ‌major‌ ‌in‌ ‌sports‌ ‌management‌ ‌an‌ ‌

opportunity‌ ‌to‌ ‌explore‌ ‌both‌ ‌sides‌ ‌of‌ ‌athletics.‌ ‌My‌ ‌intent‌ ‌is‌ ‌to‌ ‌create‌ ‌a‌ ‌hybrid‌ ‌program‌ ‌for‌ ‌

the‌ ‌students.‌ ‌I‌ ‌want‌ ‌to‌ ‌build‌ ‌a‌ ‌relationship‌ ‌with‌ ‌the‌ ‌local‌ ‌colleges/universities‌ ‌and‌ ‌set‌ ‌up‌ ‌

services‌ ‌for‌ ‌students‌ ‌who‌ ‌will‌ ‌pursue‌ ‌a‌ ‌degree‌ ‌in‌ ‌sports‌ ‌management.‌ ‌Accomplishing‌ ‌

these‌ ‌goals‌ ‌will‌ ‌require‌ ‌advanced‌ ‌management‌ ‌abilities,‌ ‌and‌ ‌thus‌ ‌I‌ ‌find‌ ‌your‌ ‌Master’s‌ ‌

program‌ ‌an‌ ‌ideal‌ ‌setting‌ ‌to‌ ‌further‌ ‌my‌ ‌studies.‌
