Since I was in high school, I always believed I would choose a career in the medical field. After graduation, I decided to study respiratory therapy abroad in the United States. Many people die around the world because of respiratory diseases each year, as a respiratory therapy student, I love how I can see my impact on patients and how they improve each day until they get discharged. I am passionate about learning respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, and what are the best practice in the respiratory care field we can deliver to cause a big impact on a patient’s health and life, and that is the main reason I chose to further my study at Georgia State University.

I began my major as a respiratory therapist and worked my way up. I did my clinical rotations at many different intensive care units for adults, paediatric, neonates and the emergency room. When the Covid-19 pandemic hit the US, I was in my final year and despite my clinical placement, I had a great experience doing my clinical during the pandemic, I had the chance to work with some COVID-19 patients who are on the mechanical ventilator, and ECMO. It was a hard and uncertain time for the world, but I had a very unique experience learning about a new disease and how to manage it. During my undergraduate study, I had evidence based research class, I enjoyed that class, my research topic was about whether awake prone positing would benefit COVID-19 patients or not, that class gave me an insight that I liked research and writing, which is another reason that lead me to apply for a master program at Georgia State University to advance my research skills.

My goal is to join the Georgia State University to pursue my master degree in Respiratory Therapy and further my study in the respiratory field to deliver a better care for patients. During my clinical training I realized that I need to advance my education as respiratory therapist because we deal with very sick patients every day, and the need to advance my knowledge in the field. In addition, I want to be open to new opportunities in the future such as working in academia in Saudi Arabia, many universities is opening a new respiratory therapy programs, and the need to a respiratory therapist with advanced education is growing. I chose the school because of its reputation and excellence in healthcare sciences and medicine. I hope to learn and advance my knowledge in the field with the help of the experienced faculty and staff. My Future goal is to become a registered respiratory therapist and work in a big hospital setting to improve the quality of life and wellbeing of patients with respiratory diseases. I believe Georgia state University will help me to achieve my career goals and build me at a personal level through my interaction with the faculty and fellow students.
