I’m a senior majored in business Administration. To pursue a master’s degree in computer science I think NYU Tandon Bridge program would be an excellent preparation for students without a strong science academic background like me. I believe I could learn the essential cs knowledge and skillsets through this program and be prepared for cs master.

The reason why I wanted to pursue a master’s degree in cs is because I’m fascinating about how programming and technology could enrich business and facilitate our lives. The very first time that I become fascinating in how computer science could change the business industry is when I’m taking my business operation class, by generating sensitivity analysis reports in excel, we could get a precise result of how to better allocate our limited resources. By mastering the programming skills, we could derive useful insights from the data we have. Moreover, when I’m doing risk management internship at China construction bank, I found out that my colleagues worked in quantitative finance positions are often using computer programming to build finance models. My manager told me that the finance model plus useful programming tools could save us a lot of time and provide a more precise result. Precise is critical to finance industry, we want to avoid the risk as much as possible. We want to identify the customers with as precise prediction as we can for their credit risk. After this internship I decided to start my exploration of computer related classes. The very first programming class I’ve ever take is Mysql, and I was completely fascinated with how big data and programming could help me to better manage a business or extract the useful information in a short amount of time. I really enjoyed that class and got a A-, that’s when I decided to pursue a CS related minor. As more of the classes I took, I found out that I really enjoyed programming and though it was really fun to code a program and make it useful for daily lives. More importantly, I think it’s extremely helpful when It comes to finance industry. Furthermore, my minor GPA is approximately 3.9 which is even higher than my major GPA. This gives me more confidence to pursue a master’s degree in cs. During the undergrad, I was majoring in business and minoring in Applied Analytics. I’m excited to learn more solid skills to pursue a master degree in cs and in the future I wanted to work for fintech industry, and I believe the computer skills which I will acquire at NYU can broaden my career choices and let me design useful investing models in the future.
