I am the first-generation in my family that graduating from high school and continue to college. I want to continue my education because I want to fulfill my dream, which is art. Drawing always is my favorite things to do since I was young. My parents want me to study business because they used to own of a clothes shop in China, they think that study business might help me to get a better life in the future. I give up my dream instead of chose a major that might not suit for me. One day, I was cleaning up my room. I saw my high school artworks and remind me of how happy I was. After that, I told my parent that I don’t want to give up my dream and that is where I make chose my own path.
I born in a middle-class family, I have experienced the injustices and difficulties growing up in China. My father, my mother and I immigrant from China to United States in 2010, my parents hope we can find a better life and I can receive a better education. By the time, we came to United State everything start from zero. My parents and I had difficulties on communication, it is totally a different living style to us. But everything I experienced is what shaped my character, my personality, and the goal I aim for in my life. My goal is stand up for myself and don’t be afraid to say it.
My elementary school in China had impact my thinking a personality so badly. I am a victim from bullying, and I had experienced physical bullying, verbal bullying. But in that time, I didn’t tell my teachers, my parents anything about what is going on with my classmate, because bullies menaced me not to tell any adult if I didn’t follow what they tell me, I will get what I deserve. And I was so afraid, and I didn’t tell any of my teachers. One of my middle-class friends who got bullying from a high-class student. She told the teacher what had happen to her and the teacher promised her that she will give punishment to the bullies. Next day, nothing had happened. This had disappointed me so badly and had impact be to not being a friendly people anymore, which to try to protest myself in a wrong way and lost trust at everybody except my parents. At that time, I felt like the world is made for the people who had power to do things. These teachers only help the students who is in high class family. If time can flow backwards, I would tell my parent and talk to the principal about my bullying. What I learned from this experienced is I should not be afraid, and I might stop another student to being bully if I tell any adult that I can trust with. I am so regret for not standing up for myself and chose to hidden the facts.
Thankful, my parents told me that we are moving into a new country, which is United State. In that time, I feel like I am liberated from bullying, and the god is giving me a new hope. At the same time, we all hope to find a better life in United States and I can receive a better education. But, moving into a new country is not easily as we thought, everything have to start from zero. Lucky, my aunt help my father find a job to support my family and find an apartment to live. It’s the time for me to go to school. I was worry about my new school. I am afraid that I will be got bullies by other people and don’t know how to communicate with others. But the lucky things are they have staff member who can speak in all different language and I seem a lot of students that speak Chinese, too. I felt so warm and I felt like the school and the teachers care about me. I hadn’t feel that way before. I think bully is something that everybody should take it seriously, bully can be a great impact to people.
