Develop a marketing plan to guide your future (SLO 2).

Use resources from the TAMUC and College of Business Career Centers to help with the assignment.

Steps 1 and 2 Focus on You as a Product

Step 1: Personality Inventory – Use Personality Pathways (short version of Myers-Briggs) to find your profile

Once you have your 4 letter profile, look up the description, characteristics and career fields frequently pursued by people with this profile. (see Myers-Briggs Test Overview attachment under Week 5)

Print the description and highlight the 3 or 4 qualities that describe you best.

Circle the career fields that are closest to what you’ve been thinking about after graduation for consideration

Four Parts to the Table:

Content Knowledge: things you know from your major, courses taken, certifications

Process Knowledge and skills: things you can do or demonstrate

Industry Knowledge: areas of business you have worked in through jobs, internships, volunteer experiences or family background (such as retail industry, technology, fast food, sports, education, banking)

Step 3: Target Market

Research jobs you will qualify for after graduation.

Apply steps in CH 7 to (1) segment the market of potential employers by industry, geography, skills needed, (2) select a target position/ industry/size company that you want to work for and (3) position yourself to fit the job.

Find a job description through a website, such as Indeed or on the COB Career Services Website

Step 4: Price

Look at the average starting salary for new hires in the field/company you want to work for.

Consider what other benefits might be offered (vacation, health insurance, car, phone or phone allowance, tuition reimbursement, training, etc. Look at YouScience for more information.
