Management
Management in any organization is essential to ensure organization performance , In health care ,management ensures that the health care facilities and organizations are running smoothly.
It ensures that health care provided is effective and efficient.
Management includes the collaboration and coordination of activities in order to reach the organizations goals and objectives.

Organizing
Leading
Directing
Controlling
Planning
This refers to the activities that need to be conducted in order to achieve the organizations goals .
It emphasizes on how to accomplish the set goals and objectives.
Planning entails the use of a plan , and helps in making of decisions on long term and short term goals.
Planning offers directions , helps identify goals and gives perspective .
It includes strategic planning , managerial planning and operational planning.
Real Life Example
Everyday at the hospital is different at sometimes various challenges occur. At the outpatient pharmacy there was need to arrange medications in order to provide efficient services to the customers .
This would reduce the time taken to serve the patients.
The medications would be arranged in or order from A to Z .This would ensure easy access and identification of medications .
By doing this it enabled reduce the time spent in trying to find the right medicines and also reduce the time that the patient spends waiting at the pharmacy .
The use of Scriptpro system will also ensure there is no drug cross contamination and loss of medicines .
Organizing
This involves identifying the activities that need to be carried out in order to achieve the organizational goals .
It includes clear and decisive directions , delegation of authority, determining of positions and teamwork assignments .
This also includes a clear outline on which activities need to be carried out and who needs to carry them out.
Real life example
During My first Internship , My Nurse leader was responsible for organizing a Mental health awareness program for the nurses .
The Objectives of the event was to educate the nurses on how to manage workplace and personal stress, and also to provide mental heath screening.
When organizing the event , she assigned duties to the nurses at the psychiatric department and those responsible for providing education on mental health .
Roles were assigned on who would post the event on the facilities social media and web platforms, and also send the emails to the other nurses .
The hospital was responsible for providing mental health screening and the key department leaders were responsible for ensuring that the agenda of the event is set and that effective screening is provided to the nurses .
Controlling
This entails the monitoring of staff activities ,and performance and also taking the necessary corrective actions to ensure high levels of performance .

Measuring and weighing performance
Making the necessary corrective actions
They three types of control in health care include output control, process control and input control.
Real life example
At the outpatient pharmacy the goal was to ensure that the time spent in the pharmacy was reduced .
By arranging and organizing the medications in alphabetical order it enabled ease of identification , hence effectively reduced the time spent by the patient waiting at the pharmacy .
The use of script pro system was effective in ensuring there is no cross contamination of medicines and aloes in ensuring that prescriptions are filled and well labeled .
