Specific purpose:

To persuade my audience into having a healthy life in order to improve their health in a time frame of seven to ten minutes.

Central idea:

To share information on why exercise is good for you and also to give examples how a person can have a healthy life.

(Transition) I would like to start

I. Walking just for 20 minutes without stopping can benefit a healthy lifestyle.

A. Many people skip out on workouts because they can’t seem to find the time to fit it in, so I consider you guys to walk for 20 minutes a day.

B. The seven health benefits of walking just 20 minutes a day according to simplemost.com

1. Improves your Mood: Studies have found that taking a moderately- paced walk can improve your mood.

2. Increased Energy: researchers from the University of Georgia found that people who walked 20 minutes a day reported feeling more energetic and less fatigued.

3. Lowered Risk of Heart Disease: can reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke by eight percent.

4. Longer life: any increased activity can have profound effects on your lifespan.

5. A lowered Risk of Diabetes: walking after each meal can help lower your blood sugar and reduce your risk for type-2 diabetes.

6. Stroger Memory: Studies show that a daily walk can help improve spatial memory, as well lower risk of dementia.

7. Weight Loss: Walking helps to reduce visceral fat, the deep belly fat in your body.

(Transition) Now I’d like to move on

II. The different types of workouts

A. Endurance: increase your breathing and heart rate.

a. Examples: Jogging, running, dancing, biking, swimming, and biking.

B. Strength: make your muscles stronger.

a. Examples: Lifting weights, and using your own body weight.

C. Balance: help prevent falls.

a. Examples: Yoga

D. Flexibility: stretch your muscles and can help your body stay limber.

a. Examples: neck stretches, upper body stretches.

E. Locations where you can do the different types of workouts

a. Planet fitness, East Chicago Weight room, Park, Omni Health & Fitness.

(Transition) In the same way

III. As walking you can get benefits from working out.

A. Exercise benefits every part of the body, including the mind.

B. Exercising can help you look better.

C. Exercise combats health conditions and diseases.

D. Exercise can help a person age well.

(Transition) For this reason

IV. Knowing your limits is highly significant, due to the fact that people can have an eating disorder.

A. While people are trying to lose weight can suffer from anorexia nervosa and bulimia.

B. Anorexia is an eating disorder causing people a lack or loss of appetite for food.

C. Bulimia is an emotional disorder involving distortion of body image and an obsessive desire to lose weight, followed by depression and vomiting.

(Transition) And finally

V. How is Social media affecting the lives of people?

A. Plus-size model is affecting the lives of people who are trying to lose weight.

B. What is megarexia? Megarexia represents the opposite of anorexia

C. People who suffer from Megarexia see themselves as healthy and thin when actually they have an obesity problem.

(Transition) And in closing

VI. Summarize my speech

A. I informed you guys why walking just 20 minutes a day can do to you, and the benefits of working and why is important of knowing your limits.
