English Composition I – Week 7
Peer Review Rubric Comment by Michael Clines: First of all, I think you have done a good job on your draft. It is a great controversial topic for argument, that is for sure. I am a little confused about some of the paragraphs. I believe that I am understanding in paragraph one that your thesis is that many people argue marijuana should be legalized because of the medicinal value. Then do I also understand correctly that you are against the legalization of marijuana? If this is the case I think I might shorten the opening and maybe add the medicinal value instead of the(opening) first paragraph to the second paragraph and then the rebuttal about the harmful effects. Remember to write in the third person and not use I. It would be better to combine some information and have three paragraphs in the body and then a conclusion. For instance in the third paragraph those arguing against legalization are talking about the negative impacts, what would be an argument for those arguing for legalization? Next your concluding paragraph should tie everything to your thesis. I have attached the rubric. I can tell you have worked hard on this topic and think it is a good draft.
