Week 13 Assignment 2: Peer & Self-Reflection

Peer and Self Reflection Critique

This meeting is with Raymond which is 70 years of age male who lost her wife half year prior and began drinking alcohol, 6 pack each night. He denies any self-destructive or murderous thoughts right now, however he feels like aversion individuals. At this moment, the therapist will show him how to dodge liquor and got more amicable with the general public (Corey, 2016). The thoughts and implies that I use in this class help me with this kind of patient. This session therapy is a conversation base in Raymond that need assistance to stay away from liquor and got friendlier. I need to establish a climate that is sheltered and agreeable. Try not to utilize encounter with understanding it is significant. Utilize the strategies that will assist him with willing permit the patient to turn out to be more wellbeing. A good professional discussion will establish a decent climate for the patient and treatment (Sommers-Flanagan and Sommers-Flanagan, 2018). My best quality in the treatment area was that I understand that the individual that I have before me is a patient that need assistance, I control myself for the best treatment for him (Corey, 2016). My shortcoming with this sort of patient is that I get including a lot in tolerant inclination and now and then I become vulnerable. Addiction it is something that can happen to anybody and it is an issue for the patient and the family (Corey, 2016). The main thing is controlling the feelings and treat the patient the most ideal way.

The recordings and web help me a lot since I found the most ideal approach to manage this sort of patient. The class book is significant as well. Raymond is a patient that is old and don't care for companions. It is imperative to assist him with understanding that companions will support him. Alcohol isn't the best approach to maintain a strategic distance from his lose. It is critical to give guidance in how keep away from addictions and can go to grown-up gathering to be more socialite with individuals (Sommers-Flanagan and Sommers-Flanagan, 2018).

Raymond shows that was an impact for him to lose the spouse, however toward the end he comprehends that liquor it isn't the most ideal way and became not at all like individuals won't support him. Raymond and I demonstrate good connection and use a good respect for him. It is essential to approach individuals with deference and the arrangement was excellent. It was significant that toward the end we get a similar point (Corey, 2016). I will prescribe to him to not utilize liquor and go to grown-up treatment. It is significant that he begins to do every day exercises to diminish the liquor utilization (Corey, 2016). The treatment objectives will incorporate proceeding with treatments.

Peer Reflection

My partner’s key strength was being an active listener. The quality of a conversation between the therapist and the patient is dependent on the ability to ensure continuity of the discussions without making the client feel that so much is being demanded. My partner was balanced in ensuring that we acquired the most important information that would guide Ronald’s management. At the same time, my partner ensured that the inquiry did not make the patient uncomfortable by continually rephrasing or moving away from the questions that generate negativity in the patient (Sarı & Eryılmaz, 2020). The notable weakness in my partner was that he remained quiet when the issue of the child was mentioned. The silence was a typical case of countertransference and while silence may have been seemed logical for my partner, the patient may have felt judged. I believe that my partner can improve their interviewing skills by working with a preceptor or supervisor. This approach would be effective in introducing my partner to diverse patient situations and avoiding unlikely scenarios where silence is used to overcome difficult conversations.
