With solid backing from the United States of America to bolster globalization efforts and augment commercial prospects globally, a notable international organization called The World Trade Organization (WTO) was founded in 1995. The main objective of WTO is to enhance global free trading activities by diminishing obstructions like tariffs and quotas that hinder overseas business operations (Hussain et al. 850).

The USA supports WTO, NAFTA, and TPP. These treaties encourage global trade and investment. Quotas, tariffs, and other restrictions may generate these issues. The US relies on international agreements for its economic policy. In 1994, the US, Canada, and Mexico signed NAFTA—the first US free trade deal. The pact eliminated trade barriers and decreased tariffs to boost economic activity among the three countries. Despite increasing trade and investment across all three nations, NAFTA has been blamed for eliminating US and other employment. Some believe NAFTA will hurt non-North American employment.

US films, music, and TV have affected foreign popular culture. American companies have traditionally shaped the global economy since many of the world's most successful organizations are headquartered there. Some blame the US for globalization that favors the wealthy and robust over the poor and powerless. Some think US economic dominance has enslaved emerging countries and destroyed the environment. Several blame the US trade policy for reducing employment in several areas. The US has lost manufacturing to lower-wage countries. The US has contributed to globalization since World War II. USA laws and institutions have promoted free commerce, open markets, and international money transactions. American business and culture influenced global culture. Critics say the US has promoted a kind of globalization that benefits the rich and powerful at the expense of the poor and marginalized.

America's Impact on Globalization

America has one of the most significant impacts on globalization. Influence from America spreads all over the world. One of the easiest ways America does this is via the internet and social media. America's culture, values, beliefs, fashion, food, schooling, and transportation influence people from all over the world. This semester I learned that social media can be used to help further develop the globalization of America and help spread information all over the world. Social media can also negatively impact the spread of globalization by giving the wrong impression of what America is about and what influences America. The reference from this semester that I look back on is the first discussion post we made. We were asked to define Americanization. One of the biggest key points in my post was that social media as well as the internet has had a heavy influence over Americanization, as well as the globalization of America. I then continued researching the influence social media and the internet have over America and chose that for the topic of my research paper. America has had a very heavy impact on globalization, and I was given a real-life example of it via my grandfather who had come to America from Hungary. America will continue to have a heavy impact on globalization no matter what year it is.
