peer Critique Assignment ASAP
Overview
You will submit four peer-critiques of other students’ presentations.
Objectives
· TSWBAT analyze texts (written, oral, and visual) using the concepts of the rhetorical triangle and Toulmin argumentation.
· TSWBAT define and discuss key concepts relevant to public speaking including Monroe’s Motivated Sequence.
· TSWBAT prepare peer-critique, responding to both content and delivery of presentations.
· TSWBAT understand and apply knowledge of the ways in which non-verbal communication is a key part of persuasive speaking.
· TSWBAT identify fallacies in spoken texts.
· TSWBAT summarize oral texts and identify their intended audiences.
· TSWBAT analyze oral texts (including famous speeches) using the concepts of the rhetorical triangle, Toulmin argumentation, and Monroe’s Motivated Sequence.
· TSWBAT Respond to speeches with thoughtful questions.
Some things to consider and comment on:
· Did the speech demonstrate the principles and techniques of public speaking?
· Did it fit the rhetorical situation especially the occasion?
· What was the speaker’s purpose? Did he/she achieve it?
· What was strong and what was weak about the speech?
· How might the speaker improve the speech?
Refer to Language Awareness Chapter 2 for help with writing a college essay. Include an introduction, body, and conclusion, and don’t forget to state and develop your thesis statement. Also see Chapter 4.5 for peer-critiquing suggestions.

Conclusion
Restated Thesis: What three areas did you critique? Use past tense.
Summary: Summarize three critiques and focus mainly on analysis summary.
Action Step: What should the student work on? Make at least one actionable suggestion.
Formatting and Mechanics Notes:
Write your 2-page essay in APA format including a title page and header. Use 12 point, Times New Roman font, 1” margins, and indent each paragraph half of an inch. Edit your essay for grammar errors using what you’ve learned on McGraw-Hill and the Top 25 errors.
