C. Life Course Assignment (110 Points) You will provide a structured analysis of a character in a movie or television show representing a particular developmental stage covered in this course. The aim of this assignment is to apply knowledge of human behavior and the social environment from the text to a case example and indicate the ability to integrate your understanding of broader issues facing clients at a particular developmental life stage. It is suggested that you read the assignment guidelines before you choose your character to ensure your ability to complete all parts of the assignment. This is a three-part assignment: 1. LCA Part 1: Life Change Events (30 Points). Think about life trajectories and life events that the character you have chosen has endured to explain major events and transitions that have happened. Using exhibit 1.5 on pages 16 & 17 of the Changing Life Course book as a guide, consider events in your character’s life that may have produced stress. Include transitions, life events, and turning points. You can complete a timeline or lifeline for your character to show how the trajectories are woven together and how the events impact each other or lead to trajectories as described in the text. Write a one-page summary to discuss if there are any events that could have had persistent effects on the life trajectory but did not due to time, place, support system, or other aspects? You must follow APA guidelines for this assignment. 2. LCA Part 2: Social Support Network Analysis (30 Points). Create a social support network analysis of the character you have chosen. Using exhibit 5.4 on page 167 of the Person in Environment book as a guide, this assignment should include the following information: a. Network cluster (family, extended family, friends, neighborhood, school, work, church, recreation, etc.) b. The name of network member c. The type of support (material, emotional, or instrumental) d. Write a 1-2 page summary to discuss what you have learned about your character’s social support using evidence from the textbook to support your findings. This assignment should be turned in using the Social Support Network Analysis form found in the assignment link on Moodle. You must follow APA guidelines for this assignment. 3. LCA Part 3: Developmental Case Analysis (50 Points): For part of this assignment, you will complete a 5-8 slide PowerPoint focusing on the information learned in this course. Use voice narration to narrate each slide of your PowerPoint. This PowerPoint should be presentation quality. This means style, professionalism, and voice narration should be as if you are presenting for your employer, colleagues, or at a conference. APA guidelines should be followed. Your power point should include the following information: a. Title Page b. Character Background information c. The character’s stage of development o Does this person fall into one of the typical Eriksonian stages of development? Why do you say so? o Are there any issues that they may be experiencing, what challenges that are typical for this stage does this person face? d.
