action plan
Part 2
I was an intern in one of the best accounting companies in my country last summer. My superior who is associate has a tendency to go out or rather absent from her place of work, but our manager could not realize that. Of course, my superior was quite tactical. She would always have a spare dress coat that would always hang in her chair. She could not even report that she was going out. I noted everything but chose just to remain silent. She had a tendency to report to work for only 30 minutes and then leave unnoticed.
She was my close friend and working directly under her; she knew that I could not betray her. She confused our personal friendship to work relations. She has thought that anytime she was absent, I would privately act on her behalf. However, this had an effect on the manager and me as well. I did so many times. However, it made me feel that I was a betrayer to myself since I was in contravention of my set principles of practicing honesty in all my days to day endeavors. This put me in jeopardy since the two of us had different ethics in regard to work participation.
Then the main reason why I opted to remain silent is that I never wanted to be part of any form of trouble. I was pretty sure that if I raise the issue and make it known to the other manager, she would feel upset, and the working environment could not have been so friendly between her and me. I had to improvise a way in which I would address the entire issue.
It is obvious that I had some form of dissatisfaction deep within my heart. I decided to table the issue to her as a person. I was very precise in explaining to her my unconformity with my current situation. After a series of talks with her, she began to come into terms with her unethical behavior and realized that her selfish actions had an effect on me as well. I told her that I would no longer do her responsibilities for the sake of a close friendship.
She agreed with my proposal, and this made me quite satisfied since I would have an easy time in safeguarding my principles. of course this was not the right way to deal with the prevailing situation at hand. Having such people in a company means that the level of productivity will go low. The best mechanism I would have used is to report the associate to the relevant authorities, and this would have salvaged the entire situation. However, the close friendship ranks between her and me could not have made it a viable option. It could have been a betrayal in the city. However, the situation did not end up so well. She was later punished or deduct the salary after the manager realized her actions.
It would have been easier for me to speak if there were no close ranks between the associate and me. This means that I would have just reported the act immediately. At times our bosses, like putting us in awkward situations whereby we just accept their actions that are contrary to our principles.
