I am completing my field activity on a high-complexity hospital facility that provides care in medicine, surgery, spinal cord, rehabilitation medicine, neurology, psychiatry, and so much more located in Georgia.

Summary of Activity

This activity will help me get a better understanding of what may be some of the issues associated with short staffing. I will focus on the reasons for short staffing and ways to improve short staff. Some of my thoughts I have in mind is to offer increased salary rates, recruitment, and retention incentives, and offer alternative schedules. The proper staffing is very important when it relates to running a healthcare organization because without the proper staff, the business can’t make it. I feel that with the help of the HR specialist and the department supervisors, we can come up with a great plan.

My Role

While completing my field activity, I will be working with a Human Resource Specialist and supervisors from different departments. The HR specialist will provide me with all the information and policies that is needed to complete this assignment.

Timeline

I will be interviewing the HR specialist and the department supervisors for the first two days. After getting their input, I will began researching and reading policies in place for 3 weeks. Once I have completed my research, I will follow up with HR and the supervisors with my thoughts and recommendations. If we can all agree then I will put it all together and present project.
