Paper Prompt 6: Greek Organizations

Miami University is well-known for several reasons, among them our deep student involvement in sororities and fraternities. Many have argued that Greek organizations have a profoundly good impact on our campus overall, while others argue that they do more harm than good. For this paper, you will need to pick a side: does the presence of Greek organizations on our campus do more harm or good? In arguing for your stance, you will need to pull from the research on group processes. Specifically, please choose at least 5 of the following concepts from this week’s unit and use them to argue for/against Greek organizations.

NOTE: There is no “right answer” in terms of the stance you take. I will not be evaluating papers negatively if they take a stance for/against Greek organizations. Instead, I will be evaluating papers on how well you demonstrate an understanding of the concepts listed above and use them to make a compelling argument.
