In order to test your understanding of the content of the course, you are to build a marketing plan for your future career. If you are not completely clear on what you want to do, select an option you think you might be interested in and work up a plan for that. It might be very informative.

Your personal marketing plan should be approximately 3 pages in length (2-4 at least/most). You should have at least three credible sources that you cite (one should include: http://www.bls.gov/ooh/ and two others).

It should include the following headings:

Section A: Personal Audit

1. Strengths: personal and professional

2. Weaknesses: personal and professional

3. Opportunities

4. Conditions that might prevent you from getting the position you want

5. Career Goals (should be specific, measurable, actionable, realistic and timebound)

Section B: Career Marketing Plan

1. Mission/Vision

2. Target Market (who are potential employers by firm size/type, industry, location & what are they looking for in employees?)

3. Competition (see Occupational Outlook Handbook source above)

· job titles

· openings/growth

· career path potential

4. Operational (4P) Plan

· Product (education/experience needed; extracurricular/service; how will you be differentiated?)

· Price (compensation and benefits expected)

· Place (locations; networking sources)

· Promotion (how will you identify and communicate with prospective employers?)

The sections above should be answered thoroughly and insightfully based on self-reflection and comprehensive analysis of related job markets and potential employers’ requirements.

The sections above should clearly demonstrate a clear understanding and use of all relevant marketing planning matrices and concepts discussed in the required textbook.

The document should be typed, grammar and spelling error free, and should look professional (like something you could submit to an employer).
