1. Argument/Thesis - 2 pts

-Does it have a clearly stated central idea?

-Is the idea interesting and arguable?

2. Correctness – 1 pt

-Do irregularities of grammar/syntax/citation make this paper hard to read?

3. Evidence – 2 pts

-Does the paper incorporate textual evidence by quotation, paraphrase, and summary?

-Is the evidence well chosen and integrated?

4. Style & Organization -2pts

-Are the paragraphs well connected in terms of logic and structure—returning to and developing the central idea or thesis?

-Are the individuals sentences clear?

5. Interest/Creativity - 2 pts

-Is the idea interesting and compelling? Is there a clear answer to the “So What?” question?

-Is it pleasing to read? Does the prose excite you?
