Before you upload a copy of this MLA style paper to eLearn, make sure you have the following in place:
· Four standard MLA headings in the top left-hand corner of page one.
· A title (centered) that announces to the reader what the paper will offer.
· All text in 12-point type and double-spacing throughout the paper.
· A work cited page.
· Close references to your chosen primary source (quotes, summary, paraphrase) cited in-text using parentheses, according to MLA style.
· Any additional debts to secondary sources referenced in MLA style.
In addition, if you’ve selected one of the essay options ensure your essay conforms to the following basic structure:
· Your introduction presents a thesis statement, or organizing idea, prominently positioned. (In first-year papers, the thesis is best positioned at the end of your intro.)
· Your thesis statement is developed through the body of your essay through a series of points presented in topic sentences at the beginning of several main paragraphs. These points are well illustrated with analytical discussion supported by close references and short quotations to the primary text.
· Quotations are fully enmeshed in your sentences.
· Your paper ends with a conclusion that sums up your analysis.
