PREDUDICE AND DISCRIMINATION
A Hypotheses on Effects of Prejudice and Discrimination
In this hypothesis, the feeling of worthlessness and vulnerability that determines a person's behavior and the role they play in society, which are the results of prejudice and discrimination, are going to be explored. At the beginning of the hypotheses, several people are signed up to determine how they are affected by prejudice and discrimination. The questionnaire method of extracting information is employed to find out how the selected number of people are affected. Lastly, the results from these individuals are going to be grouped and compared against each other.
According to United Nations University Press. (2016), purposive sampling is the best method to select suitable participants for research. United Nations University Press. (2016), also proposes that we ask ourselves questions like the number of people ideal as participants. The main objective here is to get the right people as participants and determine the suitable number of participants. In this case, twenty is the best number for people who are going to participate.
To extract information from the twenty participants, a questionnaire is given to them. A questionnaire is the best because according to QuestionPro. (2020, July 21), a questionnaire consists of open-ended and close-ended questions that allow a respondent to give their thoughts and feelings. Respondents are asked how they feel about prejudice and discrimination, how they are affected, and their opinions about prejudice and discrimination against other people.
From the questionnaires, the data obtained will be grouped into two categories. The first category will comprise the participants who are least affected by prejudice and discrimination. The second category will contain a group of people who are highly influenced by prejudice and discrimination.
It is said that discrimination and prejudice make victims vulnerable, worthless, frightened. It is from these feelings that people acquire their behaviors and the role they play in society. The comparison between the two categories will help determine how the participants are affected, how they behave, and their role in society.
