3. Scenario: You are the chief financial officer for an Edmonton-based company in the engineering sector. Because of the economic slowdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, your company has to close its doors and temporarily lay off 50% of its staff because of financial pressures. Taking these steps allows impacted employees to apply for supports made available by the Government of Alberta and Government of Canada.

A core group of employees will continue to work on ongoing projects, but from home, which may be challenging given that many employees have families with small children. Furthermore, the AutoCAD software used for design drawings requires reliable technology and internet bandwidth which employees may not have at home.
