A foreign corporation has hired your consulting firm to make a recommendation for them to expand their corporation into the United States. This recommendation is to be based on trends since 2006 on several government indexes. Using the provided data from data.gov (see resources below), investigate trends in the data and address the following questions:

1. Are the trends for growth in the U.S. favorable?

a. What data leads you to that conclusion?

2. Taking into account the growth in population, is the per capita growth still favorable?

a. Why is per capita growth favorable or unfavorable?

3. Your client’s growth is heavily dependent on consumer spending, especially in the energy sector. What is the trend in consumer spending, debt, and savings in this sector?

a. Is this trend sustainable?

4. Is your recommendation to your client to expand into the U.S.?

a. What is this recommendation based on?
