Title: What do you really see, are you sure it’s there?

Depictions of objects or visual things in contemporary society can signify and represent different meanings to one group of people verse another. This can be due to the advancement of thinking, and the new knowledge that shapes our history everyday. A visual portrait that can have two different meanings to contemporary society is the Sandro Botticelli, Primavera, which is seen in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence. The Primavera is full of meaning, and though the interpretations may be difficult, there are still many that interpret it based off of their own understanding and culture. One of the interpretations of the painting is that it has clues about the plot against Medici, and an attempt reconcile the ideals of Christianity, Islam and Judiasm. Another interpretation of the painting, is that it interprets the allegory of spring. In which venus, known as the humanitas, protects men. I think one interpretation is more valid than the other, because when looking at colors, the way the figures are facing and what they actually look like points more to the nature of the spring rather than war. The complex image that offers insight on war, spring and love, shows the advancement that people throughout history may have had. Through the ability to be able to imagine the different concepts leads to the idea that history and knowledge are the reason behind different interpretations.
