Genital herpes is a sexually transmitted virus.
This includes anal, oral, and vaginal sex.
Is common in both men and women in the United States.
There are 2 types; HSV1 and HSV2.
Most people who have genital herpes do not have symptoms.
Can be acquired even when partner has no symptoms.
There is no cure for genital herpes, but there are currently treatments to suppress outbreaks and treat outbreaks.

Symptoms of Genital Herpes
Painful blisters or sores on or around the genitals or anus.
These sores generally heal within 2-4 weeks.
A flu like feeling while the sores are present.
Sores that come back several times within a year.
HSV-1 can cause sores on the mouth or lips called fever blisters.
IN MEN AND WOMEN
You can expect several outbreaks a year. Over time this becomes less.
You have an increased risk of getting an HIV infection if you have unprotected sex with a person infected with HIV.
Talk to your doctor about any concerns
PREGNANT WOMEN
If you have an outbreak while in labor the doctor may do a cesarean delivery.
In rare cases, you could pass the infection to your baby.
Be sure to tell your doctor if you or your partner has genital herpes.
