Subject:       Memo: Immigration.

Immigration has been a issue since the conception of the United States. Since the beginning different cultures have been isolated from one another in the attempt to gain a stronghold on society, hoping to spread their own ideological and beliefs to establish their form of government. European, Asian, African, Native Americans are just a few that fought tiredlessly to seek their piece of happiness in the New America. As we all know, the European culture rose to top to of the food chain, developing the direction in which America would head. After the colonization of the first 13 states, the governmental rule of American started to show how controlling it could be. In the 18oo’s ship’s passengers were recorded to account for immigrants totals arriving in America. New Immigration in the late 1800’s brought forth a fear of a lowered economy and lack of social and occupational skills needed to build a better America. As the 1900’s began, restrictions were placed to control the immigration population. In the late 1900’s the Immigration Reform and Control Act was passed to penalized employers who used illegal immigrats for labor. This was a ploy to seek out and locate those who were illegally living in the United States. As a result, Mexicans were found to have the greatest numbers. Now, in 2019, America is still fighting a battle that has taken front page on media outlets around the world. Building a wall to control a population that is targeted as an American hazard, yet has no real data to prove it.

The separation of two countries, with a barrier, has many Americans questions their own morality. Some would agree a wall would create safer streets, employment opportunities, and control illegal immigration. On the other hand, some would disagree by saying a wall is to costly to build and maintain, illegal immigration would still be uncontrollable, and the treatment of those south of the wall is unethical. No matter how the stance about the wall, it has create an immoral and unethical battle within the borders of the United States that is now, not only affecting immigrants but also affecting American citizens. I plan to anaylize the reasoning behind the wall as it pertains to immigration. The real question is, Who is the wall really for?
