The article I used for this week's discussion is about leadership behaviors and how they have been impacted by the pandemic from the perspective of personalization. In an environment where we have become used to sudden change, we look to leadership to provide us with the type of insight that leads us in guiding our next steps. Whether it be at school, work, or places of business, there is a noticeable absence of personal connection as a result of our efforts to maintain social distancing guidelines. Much of the way we communicate has been changed as well, replaced with video conferencing or different types of technology in place of one-on-one interactions. Without the benefit of reading the non-verbal aspect of our time together, it is sometimes difficult to build the trust required for relationships. With these changes, traits like authenticity, clarity, agility, and empathy are more important than ever before as we face continued uncertainty and prolonged periods of stress (Pitstick, 2020). Leaders have been tasked with reimagining the way we interact in the workplace going forward and this will involve an upskill and a reskill for many of us (Pitstick, 2020).

For this week's topics I focused on Chapter Eleven, "Leadership Roles in Making Strategic Planning Work." I felt that this particular article really resonated with the chapter and really produced an interesting outlook on strategic planning within a medical network.

"The pandemic has exacerbated existing inequities in medical education, health care, and research. The AAMC puts forth 10 action plans to address them." (Redford, online.) The Association of American Medical Colleges launched a typical rubric or guide to assist schools and hospitals with a protocol or strategy in providing care, education and medical research to efficiently and effectively assist students and medical personal. I found the article very informative with helping the systems effectively plan out a strategy for their future moving forward, especially with the pandemic in mind.
