Re:Topic 3 DQ 1
Using problem-solving skills in the setting that I’m volunteering in is extremely prevalent. Due to the fact that there is not always a tenured volunteer, I must rely upon my skills, knowledge, and available resources to assist individuals that come in seeking guidance on their personal family history. One dilemma that I faced was helping an individual set up their ancestry.com account and connect it to family tree. Ideally the information is supposed to transfer from one account to the other so that both accounts coincide with each other. In this case, the accounts did not translate, and I had to manually input all of the names and dates into ancestry.com. Both sites have many records, and one site may have a record that the other site doesn’t, that is why people link the two accounts together. Family tree is also specific to members of the church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints because it allows for members to keep track of details regarding the temple. Often times this connection between the two accounts is required. Unfortunately I was unable to solve the problem by having the two accounts link together on their own, but luckily I had the ability to manually input them, it just took a bit longer than usual.
