Re:Topic 5 DQ 1

There are many stakeholders that are involved in our growing epidemic of childhood obesity. These stakeholders are imperative to the improvement and distribution of information to the public on how to treat and better the situation. “Over the past three decades, there has been a dramatic global increase in childhood obesity. A better understanding of stakeholders' perceptions of intervention requirements could contribute to developing more effective interventions for childhood obesity.” (NCBI, 2010) These stakeholders include but not limited to the CDC, the WHO, and the IOM. The backing of said stakeholders crucial or imperative for active involvement to support the change with strategies targeted to support your research and funding needed for the evidenced based research.

These stake holders are investing their time and money into what they feel is an important cause or change that needs to be addressed. “To promote long-term behavior change, there needs to be increased congruence between the delivery and receipt of childhood obesity treatment interventions. Interventions need to incorporate strategies that promote autonomous and self-regulated motivation, to enhance families' confidence in sustaining behavior change independent of health professional support.” (NCBI, 2010)
