Re:Topic 3 DQ 2
Good morning Class and Professor,
Looking at the aspect of the IDEAL problem-solving process that was developed by Bradford and Stein in 1993, as well as looking at the problem that I was faced with this week, which brought out all of the aspects that I have learned through my school years and my personal life skills that I have learned I was able to identify the problem that was being faced, which was the loss of the costume, and due to this happening, facing the fact that without this costume the show could not go on. The next aspect that was faced was the defining of the problem, so breaking this information down and finding out what it is that happened, and how we can fix the problem. The costume was removed by the stage manager, and then taken to a restaurant in which it was left there instead of being taken home with them. They did not realize this until the return to the theater, two days later. This caused a huge uproar, tears, anger and almost the loss of a job of the stage manager, because the show is opening in a week, and it blew everything out of the water. The next phase would be the exploration of the strategies that would allow for the completion of figuring out how to resolve the problem that is being faced. The strategies that ultimately came to fruition was that we had to break down the situation that was in question, being that the costume was gone, and won’t be coming back, that we need to locate a new one, that we needed to get the measurements and that the stage manager needed to take full responsibility of the situation, including, but not limited to the financial aspect of things. By breaking the situation down, we were able to work through the situation, and make a designated plan of action of how it was going to handled, and who was at fault and a date of return of a new costume. The next phase would be acting on the ideas, this was completed by taking the strategies and that were put into place on figuring out how to replace the item in question. The actions that were being taken was to find and locate the item and to buy a new costume. Ultimately this brought out the aspects of looking for the effects, which would consist of all of the emotions that were flying around the theater, with loud screaming, anger and many tears being shed, but the most important was the loss of a great stage manager that would have ended a run of the show outside of the aspect of the loss of the costume. The major thing that I brought up through this process was that, it was simply a costume, and it could have been worse. An actor could have gone missing, this is simply just clothing that can be replaced, of course this is at a financial cost, but that the situation could have been much worse. In the end, a costume was located, the actor was clothed, and the show is ready to go. All members of the cast, crew and production team have been able to work through the situation, although there may be lasting effects of this happening, it does not stop the show from going on, and the friendships/working relationships have been resolved and things can move on from there.
Have an amazing day!
