Scientific research is based upon finding a solution to a particular problem one can identify. There are various methods of formulating a research design for the study. The three common methodological approaches to carrying out research in social science plays a very important role in our study and research, this paper will explain the definition of quantitative research, qualitative research and mixed-methods research, though the analysis of three research papers on poverty, this paper makes an understanding of poverty, analyses the use of the three methodological approaches in the articles, discuss their advantage and disadvantage, select the most appropriate research method to study poverty.
