Leadership Styles and characteristics

Overall Comments:

   This was all about analyzing the leadership style and characteristics of the leader you admire to determine which ones are most effective. From there, you were to compare your personal characteristics to those of that leader. Additionally, you were asked to evaluate how the economy, the environment, and society influence leadership.

   I enjoyed learning about the leadership style and characteristics of the leader you admire. I think that it is important to make this sort of reflection because it helps leadership come to light and cements the new theories that you have learned into an example that you will always remember.

   As you work on the SWOT analysis, remember to write in the first person, as this is all about you! Also remember that the key is to talk about how your strengths and leadership style/characteristics help you to overcome those weaknesses and threats and take advantages of the opportunities you will discuss.

I could not locate any description of your individual situational leadership styles and characteristics. It is important to identify these so that you can assess which ones are needed for effective leadership. This is the third bullet point under the heading 'requirements'. Even though you generally would not write in the first person, this assessment requires you do do so (as does assessment 4). 

”

Basic here, with a nice job describing how the economy can influence how you lead - to move to proficient, consider more of an analysis. What are some economic factors that could affect your leadership? Did leadership styles change during the recession? The spirit of this particular criterion is to focus more on those conditions that are external to the company and what they might be.
