Outline for Proposal Essay

Be sure you have all the elements of a good introduction: A hook (perhaps an interesting statistic),         summary of the topic and what you will propose (introduce the topic, state the problem, state the complications), and finish the paragraph with a clear thesis statement. This paragraph allows you to expound upon the details of your proposal. Here you will evaluate your topic and propose your solution (in a proposal statement). Be sure to have evidence to support your proposal. 2. Persuade your reader to see the problem needs a solution 3. Solutions (3-5 paragraphs) These paragraphs discuss the solutions to your proposal. Remember to have topic sentences, supporting information (including evidence from your sources), and transitions to the following paragraph. 4. Counterargument Here you will introduce the opposing views to your solution.
