THESIS: The staff shortage is the primary challenge that hotels and tourist industry are facing today.

A. Lack of trained personnel

i. Tourist and hotels have developed rapidly in recent years

ii. As the industry develops, employees need more skills (cross-culture skills, technology skills)

iii. More multiple languages speakers are needed to serve guests from different countries

B. High turnover rate in hotels and tourist industry

i. The entry level employees have low job loyalty

ii. Organizations have to take time and energy to train new employees.

C. Counter-argument: staff shortage is not the real problem in hotels and tourist industry

i. Organizations can hire part time workers and interns in peak season

ii. concession: this is true, but this solution is not effective. New employees who recruited during peak season may reduce service quality of the organization because they need time to adapt to the new workplace.
