1.0 Introduction - What is sexual orientation? - Individuals having issues about their sexual orientation majorly feel discriminated in the
society due to their unique nature. - Sexual orientation is approached regarding heterosexual, homosexual, or bisexual. - Some individuals struggle to come up with their identity or the sexual orientation to
which they belong. Thesis - Everyone regardless of their sexual orientation should be accepted to the society and
treated equally. Every person is equal and has a right to choose his or her sexual orientation. An individual's sexual orientation should not be treated as a taboo.
2.0 Analysis 2.1 Identity issues arising from sexual orientation
- Children suffer identity issues from their early childhood. Such children need to understand who they are before the things get complicated.
- Developing an identity through sexual orientation: Individual discovery of sexual orientation is based on natural feelings about a specific gender. Some men are attracted to men, while some are attracted to women. The same case for women.
- The right period to know sexual orientation: Challenges coping with adolescent time. Children are unable to understand why they feel attracted to the opposite sex or the same sex.
2.2 Types of Sexual Orientations - Different types of sexual orientations: heterosexual, homosexual and bisexual. - Heterosexual: sexual attraction to a person of opposite gender. - Homosexual: sexual attraction to a person of the same gender. - Bisexual: sexual attraction to both men and women.
2.3 Society’s view on Homosexuality - Society's view on sexual orientation: some people find homosexuality and bisexuality
wrong. The constitutional freedom has allowed for same-sex marriages in the U.S. However; the freedom has not been allowed in Africa and a few other countries in the world.
2.4 Supporting Sexual Equality - Supporting the freedom of sexual orientation: an individual's sexual orientation depends
on their nature. Some people were born gay and others straight. Everyone should be free to exercise their right.
