I. Introduction

When I began to study at middle school, I actively participated in various competitions such as mathematical competition, physical competition and chemistry competition, because I could always win some prizes. I had not participated in competitions anymore for the first year of my high school because the competitions of high school had become harder, I had a hard time studying and I could no longer win prizes. Why? Because I was afraid of failure. If I didn’t do that, I would not fail. Actually, I was wrong. “Failure is a necessary step in learning,” said by Jerry Large in the article “In a twist, a college lesson at UW on how to fail”. According to the article, several professionals at a recent event shared their stories on how they came back from failures. I have learnt the importances and advantages of failure from this article. There are three things that I learnt: failure can strip away what you do not need, failure can be a catalyst for growth and getting knowledge from failure will make you smarter and stronger. These things show how important failure is to our growth.

II. body

· Failure strips away what you do not need

· you can put your all energy and time on your important work instead of what you fail to do.

· I have tried to learn to dance when I was a child, however, my body is not flexible enough so I gave up and learnt something else. It saved time for me.

· Failure can be a catalyst for growth.

· Sometimes you learn more when you try something hard and fail, than you will have more opportunities to grow in multiple ways.

· You can always get some experience from failure and that can push you grow. Quote: “Failure is how we learn- it’s how we develop and acquire grit. From our experience and those of the countless successful people we have worked across a wide array of industries, from writers and CEOs to lawyers and Broadway performers, we can say it is grit that got them, and us, where we are.”

· Getting knowledge from failure will make you smarter and stronger

· Failure makes you truly know yourself .

· You can know your weakness and improve your self-awareness.

· You can also know what you have truly.

· You will find that you have a strong will which will not be found in prosperity.

III. Conclusion

· restate thesis

· rephrase three main points

· give some my opinion and what I will do in the future
