I. Introduction
A. From the recently released American Community Survey Data, it shows that nationally rural Americans have a lower median household, though people are living in rural areas have lower poverty rates than their urban counterparts.
B. The United States should re-address urban poverty policy because it currently affects 14.7 million children, impoverished black children have the highest rate than other demographics, and analysis indicate that 20% of children currently living in the U.S. live in poverty (Ross, 2017). In the last several of years, by the population growth explosion and more people choose to live from the countryside to city, a phenomenon that is gaining large momentum currently. The deepening of urban poverty has become an unsafe factor in social and economic. I am planning to use Ross 2017 to support this point.
II. Body
A. Now, the population is at a 50% increase from 30% from the past two decades (US Census Bureau. 2015). I am planning to use US Census Bureau. 2015 to support this point.
1. Today’s megacities are reaching the limits of their carrying capacity to sustain human life, and lack of basic amenities (US Census Bureau. 2015). I am planning to use US Census Bureau to support this point.
B. Employment leads to less working opportunities which contribute to low-income household struggling for survival.
1. The government is failing on its part to create more jobs, provide paid leave and paid sick days, raise the minimum wage, support pay equity and increase the Earned Income Tax for childless workers to at least balance the income generated both in urban and in rural communities
C. Convergence of demographic trends and disparities is contributing to a new economic reality in widening the gap between higher levels of poverty and inequality
1. Therefore, to reduce poverty (Agarwal et al., 2018) asserts that it can be possible when the economic circumstances of blacks, Latinos, and American Indians can be improved. I am planning to use Agarwal et al 2018 to support this point.
III. Conclusion
A. As a result of increased population, lack of employment opportunities, and disparity, the U.S. continues to face a social-economical dilemma.
