Description
You will create an outline that organizes your proposed draft from beginning to end. This allows you to assess the paper’s structure, coherence, and development ahead of writing the draft.
Instructions
First, read about outlining:

Using the sources in your working bibliography and literature review and any additional sources you have now found, draft a tentative 2-3 page, double spaced outline of your research paper.
As you are creating an outline, remember that your paper should rely heavily on evidence from academic sources as well as your own analysis of that evidence, and it should not contain sections of personal opinion, personal experience, or narrative.
A few important notes: In academic writing, an introduction can take many forms, but it does NOT summarize the entire paper. Here are some ideas for introduction strategies. Your introduction should begin with a strategy, then transition (or bridge) into the thesis statement.
In academic writing, a conclusion does not repeat what was already stated earlier in the paper. If you are not sure which conclusion strategy you will use, just write "conclusion," but do not indicate that you will repeat your thesis or repeat any points that you have already made. Redundancy (stating something more than once, or repeating verbatim what you've already said) is not part of academic writing. Here is a page on conclusion strategies, and some conclusion dos and don'ts.
Also, remember:
- An outline is not a draft. Attempts to submit a draft as opposed to an outline will be returned without review;
- The outline should consist of planned topic sentences/statements of what you plan to discuss AND parenthetical citations indicating what information is coming from where;
- Outlines without parenthetical citations will be returned without review;
- You should include your References and/or Works Cited page;
- The citations included in your References and/or Works Cited page should be fully reflected in your parenthetical citations.
