Sex Education in Schools

A. Hook: Reproductive health problems in teenagers like sexually transmitted diseases, unwanted and health risk abortions are associated with lack or limited knowledge about sexuality.

B. Position Statement: Sex education in schools should be encouraged because it gives teens a chance to understand safer options, how their bodies work and learn to say no. Sex education also does not encourage teens to engage in sexual activities.

II. Body

A. Teens are sexually active.

1. Teens will like to explore sex

2. Lack of education leads to unhealthy sex life

B. Sex education enables teens to have safe sex.

1. Teenagers get to know safer options.

2. Even without sex education, teens will continue having sex.

C. Sex education does not encourage sex.

1. Abstinence-only education does not reduce sex

2. Provision of condoms and other sex materials does not encourage sex

D. Teens get a chance to understand and appreciate their bodies

1. Body changes during puberty

2. Teens learn to say no to sexual activities

III. Conclusion

A. Sex education in school should be encouraged as it leads to reduced sex related problems like unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections among teens.
