Outline

1. Introduction

The UK-Russian relations were very deeply ‘poisoned’ and conflicted after the assassination of Alexander Litvinenko. I selected this topic because I remember when I was living in Europe at the time how much public attention was surrounded by the assassination and how brutal it was. The ever-growing power of Vladimir Putin is something that I try to pursue to examine throughout this paper, and how the death of Litvinenko worsened the relations of the West and Russia.

2. Body

The fact of that the assassination was horrible and vicious is undeniable; therefore, my focus would be on how it affected the diplomacy and political relations of Russia and the UK. Also, if the death of Litvinenko is still relevant as of today. Fortunately, I was able to find two non-British authors to support my argument and present their views on the matter as well. In the first part of the paper, I will examine Litvinenko as a person and figure and his importance for both of the countries. As for the second part, I will give insight of the actual assassination and outcomes of it. Thirdly, today’s relations and other underlying issues between Russia and the UK.

3. Conclusion

Gathering all mentioned ideas, theories, facts, and opinions mentioned in the paper and give a proper conclusion with my opinion on the matter.
