I would assume the typical student plagiarizes material out of laziness, but the atypical usually get’s caught up in plagiarism by accident rather than design. Take myself for example; I accidently submitted a source paper by accident because it was named and formatted the same as my original work. The consequences are worse than the failing grade; you have to attend this workshop, you get a blemish on your integrity as a student, and you risk undoing any work you have done towards a degree.
