Throughout his writing Brett Krutzsch has recounted his personal experiences whereby he was labelled as being the Gayest One by his colleagues. He has utilized examples throughout his narrative for a variety of reasons. He has utilized evidence from his personal life which the reader can relate to therefore enhancing the quality of his essay significantly. For instance, Brett has recounted that as a boy growing up in Indiana he was constantly taunted for talking like a girl. He prayed for his voice to break which did not happen even after reaching puberty. His voice was always a reminder that he was different from other men, making him feel like a lesser man.

Examples are also a vital part of a narrative as they leave something for the reader to relate to, thus giving the reader a better chance of understanding and relating to the writer. For instance, Brett has allowed the reader to understand the circumstances why he is considered the gayest person within his department despite there being more than ten gay men within his division. He has described that he is least likely to pass as straight as he buys expensive Kiehl’s skincare products and wears formfitting Burberry polos. In conclusion, examples and evidence in writing provide a more realistic opinion as opposed to fictional writing. For example, Brett has highlighted that while he was walking down the streets with his female friend Lauren, even the homeless man had enough gay-dar to know he wasn’t heterosexual when he asked Lauren if they could get married.
