Product-Nestle Maggi Noodles

Introduction Maggi is a product used by many people across the Indian mar- ket. It's owned by Nestle India, one of the country's leading fast-food compa- nies. However, the Nestle India Company making all the Maggi products is a subsidiary of the Nestle of Switzerland. Maggi has several products; Ketchup, Instant noodles, instant soups, and Stocks products. These products have various uses, and different tastes and flavors. Over the years, Maggi's prod- ucts have evolved and innovated differently to bring out different tastes, fla- vors, and brands, thus resulting in customers' satisfaction. The main prod-

ucts of Maggi include Maggi Rice Mania which has been innovated to differ- ent flavors. 2-minute Noodles, that comes in chicken flavor, Maggi Magic Cubes, a spice added to homemade dishes to bring out a great taste of the food, Maggi Masala-Ae-Magic that's also a spice used to flavor dishes and Maggi Sauces which also comes in a different flavor. There is a high tech of

innovation since products of Maggi are manufactured in factories with high technological advancement (Awasthi et al., 2020). These factories are located in seven different regions in India, such as Goa, Tamil Nadu, Himachal Pradesh, and Karnataka. Consumers are changing their taste preferences and hence looking for products that have all the ingredients prepared to save their time, effort, and money on preparing those products.

11

11

11

As a result, Nestles continues to launch different products due to their high skills in innovation and technology to fit and satisfy the customers' de-

mand. The type of innovation done on the Product

The products have different innovations, making them stand out to be

11

11

unique and accepted in the market. For instance, the products underwent in-

cremental innovation where they were increased in terms of their designs, features, and qualities. Maggi noodle is about 75 percent of urban house- holds in India. The urban household in India has more than 2.6% Bio serves used by individuals yearly; therefore, Maggi noodles can be an ideal carrier of iron fortification and aims to fill the iron deficiency gap. Thus with the idea in mind, the innovation of the Maggi noodles focused on the design and addi- tion of iron in every packet. Moreover, Maggi 2-Minute Masala Noodles is a product that has been innovated and fortified with iron that is now about 16 percent. The iron that the Maggi 2-Minute Masala Noodles has been fortified with can give the customers the iron they need for their daily activities. The

type of research done to innovate the Product

Based on analysts' research, the innovative products of Maggi will receive

acceptance in the market through the promotion of products. Different types

of research were done to advance the products, such as; Product strategy

Maggi being the leading food brand under the Nestle wing, has various

products and a variety of ranges for different countries. These products have been grouped into; Maggi soups, Maggi instant noodles, seasonings, and sauce. The instant noodle is the major Product with various flavors and is known across the globe (Baviskar, 2018). The main flavors in this category are chicken noodles, Oats noodles, 2-minutes noodles, hot head noodles, and the vegetable multigrain noodle. The variants are the determinants of the product strategy in the Maggi Marketing Mix. Maggi has ensured that there are different products for consumers to have at least one Product they pre- fer. Besides, product strategy has led to diversification since Maggi is present

in almost every household globally. Price strategy

Maggi uses the technique of a Cost-based pricing strategy to reach out into

various markets in the world. The main factors in Maggi's marketing mix price strategy are competition and cost since competitive prices are refunded with large volumes of the products. Due to the rise in prices in different countries, Maggi has utilized decreasing the products' quantity to retain the market prices and customers. Nestle aims to attain high market shares with mini- mum prices and maximum quality standards. However, for Maggi to fit into all the segments it aims in the income factors, it implements the use of differ-

44

11

11

11

ent prices depending on the location of the countries. Besides, its offerings

come in broad categories of packages so that individuals can purchase ac- cording to their needs. Therefore, Maggi prices cover all the income levels in the market, from the highest income level to the lowest income level seg-

ment. Place and distribution strategy

Maggi acknowledged that for the products innovated to move in the market, it had to ensure that the distribution channels were readily available and flex- ible for the products to reach consumers faster. Maggi products are readily available due to the strong existence of Nestle (Dhanesh & Sriramesh, 2018). The distribution channels available for the products to move faster include; manufacturers to distributors to wholesaler retailers to consumers. Promo-

tion strategy

Maggi's main strategy in promotion is advertising to create product aware-

ness in the market. The Product's focus was mainly on children and working women who had less time to prepare food for themselves and their young ones. Hence the advertisement was broadcast on Kid's channels with several effective taglines. Also, Maggi's advertisement was one of the external trig- gers that made the products known in the market. It utilized the taglines of the "Miss You Maggi" ad campaign to get back the customers it had lost when the company was almost banned in India due to concerns about the Product on health issues. Besides the advertisements, Maggi used discount offers to promote the products where it used the BOGO buy to get customers to pur- chase the products and create awareness (Deepa et al., nd). Maggi was also able to implement a way to attach free goods known in the market alongside their products. The promotion strategy implemented by Maggi led to its

growth as a company and innovation of the products. Conclusion

Maggi has thrived in the market due to its consistent quantity and quality.

It has identified the need of society and hence continuous innovation, which has enabled it to grab about 85 % of the current market shares in instant food production. Besides, it has gradually broadened its product line leaving the one product concentrated brand. The products that Maggi has focused on include; sauces, culinary aids, instant noodles, and bouillons.

11

11

11

However, different markets have various preferences for various products, making Maggi thrive and succeed since it knows which area has a high de- mand for its products. Maggi thrives through their perfect ability; individuals resist acknowledging or trying new things if they are pleased with their exist- ing ones (Unnamalai & Gopinath, 2022). However, Maggi was able to make individuals adapt to the innovative products made by maintaining the Prod- uct's simplicity, making it cost-effective, and saving time by taking less time to prepare. The Maggi products save effort and time used to prepare; hence they are acknowledged and loved in the market. Besides, Maggi's distribu- tion channels for the Product are effective since they ensure that the prod- ucts reach the consumer on time and conveniently. How Maggi's innova-

tion will help to increase their product value

Maggi's positioning

Maggi made a huge step by targeting a new bracket named Instant Noo- dles. The aim was to find a convenient and alternative product utilized as any meal such as dinner hence their positioning. Moreover, the idea and the posi- tioning resulted in Maggi having an added advantage in India compared to

other similar products in the market. Re-Positioning

From market and user research, Nestle discovered that Maggi products had to be promoted as either meal products or alternative evening snacks. It also identified and discovered that children preferred Maggi noodles. Hence they changed their target segment from working individuals to children by spicing and adding flavor to the Product to attract consumers. Nestle discov- ered that children were easier to convince than adults who were reluctant to change. Maggi, through market research, has been able to enter into the market and Indian homes and changed the traditional food habits of Indian children to the modern Instant noodle food. The brand acknowledged the psychology of Indian mothers by stepping in and positioning itself for moth-

er-child satisfaction.
