Encryption involves the [process of data scrambling to guarantee unintended recipients do not make sense of any data they encounter. The two prevalent types
of encryption include symmetric and asymmetric encryption. Symmetric and asymmetric encryption is widely used today in different industries, including data storage and banking, for use in transactions. Asymmetric encryption is used in blockchain to confirm identity to authorize transactions and in digital signatures to confirm identity for an individual signing a document. The most common difference between the two types of encryptions is that symmetric encryption comprises using
one key for decoding and encoding, while asymmetric encryption utilizes a public key for encryption, and for encryption, it uses a private key. Symmetric encryp-
tion is an older technique compared to asymmetric encryption, which is a newer type of encryption. Asymmetric encryption involves longer execution due to the com- plex logic involved (Yassein, et al., 2017). Therefore, for this reason, symmetric is utilized when transmitting large quantities. The disadvantage of using symmetric encryption over asym- metric encryption is that it is necessary to keep the key private, which can be challenging when decryption and encryption are taking place in different locations, which requires the key to be moved safely between the two different locations. The secret key in symmetric encryption can be a term, number, or sequence of chance let- ters. It is blended with a plain text to adjust the content of a message in a precise way. The addressee and transmitter should be aware of the secret key used in a
message to decrypt and encrypt every message. Another shortcoming of symmetric encryption is that every party involved must exchange the key to encrypt data be- fore data can be decrypted. The secret key asymmetric encryptions are exchanged over large networks and the internet (Poh, et al., 2017). This secret key guarantees that bad actors do not use the keys inappropriately. Any individual with a secret key can decode the message, so asymmetric encryption uses two keys to en-
hance security. The unrestricted key is made readily accessible to any individual who wishes to transmit a message, while the secret key is kept private so that only the individuals involved can know about the message. Texts encrypted using unrestricted keys can only be decoded using set apart keys. A message encrypted using
a private key can be decoded with a public key. Public key safety is not essential because it is available publicly and is passable over the internet. Asymmetric en-
cryption is mostly utilized during daily communication channels, mostly over the internet. Digital credentials found in the client and server model can be utilized
to find out about public keys. Asymmetric encryption, however, takes more time compared to symmetric encryption. In addition, symmetric encryption has a
high threat related to conduction since the similar key is used to encrypt messages and has to be shared with any individual who requires decrypting the messages in- volved. Each time the key is shared between individuals, the risks of interception by a third party also increases. Asymmetric encryption is more secure than symmetric encryption because it utilizes two different keys, a private key and a private key (Wu, et al., 2019). The public key is used to encode messages which make it safer for anyone. The private key is used to decoded messages that do not require to be transmitted. The private key does not need sharing; instead, it helps to guarantee
that the message is for the wished-for recipient, who can decrypt encrypted messages, hence creating a tamper-proof digital sign. References
