ITS – 833 Information Governance
University of the cumberlands
Introduction
On average, business operations in the healthcare industry contributes at least 70 percent of its services in the field of information governance. Over the past few years, information governance has gone through a number of changes. During the early years of IG inception, most organizations did not have any problems with IG while using physical storage systems such as hard copies of business data storage. Over time, there was rise in the need of more storage space in the systems to a point where organizations had to adopt better approaches in order to store and handle the wide range of clients’ data and information. Most of these problems were mainly linked to the physical storage of data and had to be addressed through the implementation of electronic systems with the bid to improve information gov- ernance efficiency. While this is considered as a good approach, there is more to the organization than just the implementation of an electronic system to establish IG effectiveness and efficiency (Empel, 2014). Having this in mind and being the new Chief Information Governance Officer for the WALMART Company, I was able to identify a number of challenges some of them being; difficulties in marketing, compliance with the law, and, other issues related to information governance informa- tion data. This is a proposal paper that will focus on the benefits of establishing a metric driven information governance program. The latter also determines the
way consumer protection and healthcare data types like administrative data and electronic healthcare records. With this system, administrators can access detailed description o both the factors and elements like process management tool, assured deliver, governance structure, and reporting. Moreover, this paper goes further to explain the essentiality of establishing Infrastructure as Service, Software as a service, and Platform as a Service. All these come in handy because they enable the effi- cient handling of data and information in the organization. Annotated Bibliography

setting. In this age, almost every organization has implemented the use of cyber security and data storage systems. This article focuses on how the healthcare in- dustry has adopted the use of electronic medical records systems with the objectives of improving the quality of health care services that they offer while at the same time reduce the cost of operation. Other than providing a definition and explanation of information governance in the healthcare industry, this article goes further to discuss the differences between Information Technology governance, Information Governance, and Data Governance. Empel, S. (2014). Way Forward: AHIMA De-
velops Information Governance Principles to Lead Healthcare Toward Better Data Management. Journal of AHIMA, 85(10), 30-32. Optimal data management is one of the most important factors when it comes to the optimal management of data for the purpose of transparent information governance principles. The contents of this article are inclusive of a detailed literature context highlighting the principles of Information Governance in the healthcare setting. Furthermore, this article evaluates the concept of IG in a way that is detailed. The concepts highlighted in this article are important in the conceptualization of Information Governance. Georgiou,
D., & Lambrinoudakis, C. (2020). Cloud Computing Framework for e-Health Security Requirements & Security Policy Rules Case Study: A European Cloud-based
Health System (No. 3953). EasyChair. According to this article, the conception of cloud computing in the field of information technology has played a major role in the transformation of the healthcare industry. However, this comes with heightened data and information security. Having this in mind, the authors of this article have fo- cused on the analysis of possible issues that are related to the use of cloud computing especially in the healthcare setting. Among the issues that have been identified include; information integrated issues related to the internet, information privacy, and technological changes. It goes further to emphasize on the need for the
implementation o cloud computing e-health system policy. The case study provided by this article promotes the understanding of nature, risks, threats, and benefits that come with the use of information system in the healthcare industry. Prastyanti, R. A., & Purnomo, S. (2019). LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS IN DIGITAL
MARKETING. International Management Journal, January–June 2019, 113. The authors of this article have pointed out that the main agenda behind the existing legal considerations is to offer protection for their business against unethical practices or unfair treatment.

The context of this article is in the acknowledgement of the government regulations that are set in place with digital marketing. Th General Data Protection Regu-
lation and the Data Protection Act of the year 2018 is an example of the existing business regulation laws. Tafesse, W., & Wien, A. (2018). Implementing social
media marketing strategically: An empirical assessment. Journal of Marketing Management, 34(9-10), 732-749
The authors of this article have mainly focused on the systematic implementation of the social media platform within an organization. It goes further to identify the different existing dimensions like the proactive approach and analytics that are adopted by an organization. This article explains that every organization must
implement the use of social media platform through subsequent stages in the bid to improve their performance. Among the proposed stages of social media strategy implementation include the following; initiation, diffusion, and maturity. Literature Review There is a long list of articles which provide information regarding in-
formation governance in the healthcare industry. According to some of these articles, information governance has an influence how the Health Information Manage- ment performs inn an environment that undergoes time-to-time transformations such as migration from traditional to digital data handling techniques. noteworthy, the adoption of Health Information Management systems has the potential of meeting the needs of the currently existing environment. With regards to the health- care setting, IG professionals come in handy since they contribute towards helping the organization to identify their goals and objectives with regards to the handling of big data (Fenton and Low, 2017). In the event that healthcare organizations work together with Information Governance professionals, they promote the adoption of changes in service by the healthcare professionals. Furthermore, the implementation of Information Governance in the healthcare sector contributes towards the health and safety of the patients, improves the quality of healthcare services offered to patients, and reduces the amount of money invested in Health Information Management systems (Moghadam and Colomo Palcias, 2018). According to the authors of this article, the existence of Information Governance in the healthcare in- dustry promotes patient’s health and safety because it minimizes medical errors, eliminates litigation problems, reduces potential risks, and makes data management as the strategic approach. Information Governance Metrics
When it comes to healthcare, Information Governance is linked to information management practices. Owing to this IG infrastructure needs to account for informa- tion asset management together with the management principles of company’s information. Asadi et al. (2019) suggest that (also William 2007, Brown & Toze
2017, Dong & Keshavje 2016, Fenton et al. 2017 and Moghadam & Colomo Palcias 2018), the metrics of IG in the healthcare industry requires the adoption of a holistic approach. This means that any model that is adopted with regards to the identified factors should play a major role in the safety, compliance, and maintenance of confidentiality. The model that should be adopted should be based on the promotion of information safety, confidentiality, and compliance. Noteworthy, the relevant metrics applicable to the use of social media in healthcare marketing include the following; consumer satisfaction, engagement, sharing of information (content),
influence, conversion and, activity. (Alves, Fernandes and Raposo, 2016) Regulatory Security and Privacy With regards to the above context, it is vital for every organiz- ation to have a strategic framework in place. As such, organizations will be in a position to conduct an evaluation of different strategies that they can adopt in the bid to protect their health data and information. For instance, the information governance system that was implemented by the organization that I am working with re- quires the HIPAA framework. The HIPAA is a framework that offers an inclusive legal requirement, one that is based on Privacy Rule Standards. (Tafesse and Wien, 2018) Email and Social Media Strategy According to (Quesenberry, 2020), the multi-media strategy is designed to allow a large number of people to gather together and establish effective communication regardless of their geographical location as long as they are connected to the internet. The multi-channel approach is recom- mended as an effective marketing approach because it gives companies access to opportunities to expand and reach out to more potential clients. Cloud Computing Strategy The implementation of an electronic health cloud-based system helps companies to cut off the number of resources required in the maintenance the in- ternal information technology systems. Such systems contribute towards reduced cost in the recruitment and hiring of technical professionals considering that major- ity of the needed services are readily available in the system.

these services assume the form of Information as a Service, Platform as a Service, and Infrastructure as a Service (Georgiou and Lambrinoudakis, 2020). Other than cutting down the cost of system operation, the latter puts organizations in a position where they can resolve problems related to resource availability, improvement of the quality of the offered services, promotes strategic planning, and neutralizes possible security threats to data and information. Conclusion
When it comes to big data and information governance in the healthcare industry and related businesses, it is necessary to consider factors such as;
transparency, compliance, retention and disposition, integrity, and accountability. Any data and information that is considered as sensitive with regards to in-
formation governance are classified as protected health information. The best way for organizations to be in line with regulations is to start by conceptualizing the en- vironment within which the business operates. In this case, the WALMART can ensure they follow these regulations through the implementation of both the AHIMA and the GDPR frameworks. In the event that the organization implements the electronic-health cloud-based system in an information governance program, they will experience an improvement in their performance, reduce cost, improve the maintenance o the healthcare facility, eliminate scarcity, and improve the quality of their services.
