In this brief I will be discussing how Measures of Effectiveness (MOEs), Measures of Performance (MOPs) and Indicators are used in the Leader Development process. They are key when it comes to measure how a organization performs.

The main purpose of these measures is to see how they function in the organization. The Assessment process according to the (Department of the Army 2012) is the progress toward accomplishing a task or achieving an objective. It helps commanders with the process of achieving goals, attaining desired end state and performing tasks concerning the mission at hand. The assessment process uses MOEs and MOPs to record tasks and accomplishments throughout the process.

MOEs assess changes in the operational environment that might effect the desired end state of the mission. Also MOEs can be used to measure the intended outcome related to achievement of undertaking objectives and accomplishment of favored impacts. The leader checks on the soldiers progress and makes sure they understand what they are supposed to be doing and the tasks required for the job. The leader also makes sure that we are doing the right things the right way. We can use this system in evaluating our soldiers when doing their evaluations by tracking how effective they have been.

MOP measures system performance which in most cases deals with time. It makes sure that a task has been completed and performed to standard. MOP is used at every level in the military and even the basic soldiers tracks their tasks and events in some way. The military uses this a lot when doing Warrior Tasks and Drills at their units. The criterion helps to answer the question if a task was done or not and if it was done to the military standards.

According to the (Department of the Army 2012) indicators is a item of information that provides insight into a measure of effectiveness or a measure of performance. The Army leadership development process uses indicators to assess the effectiveness and performance of its processes and methods in meeting the end-state. Indicators help answer what is going on with the MOEs and MOPs. Indicators can be forms or surveys that help track the status of missions. Leaders should use indicators as a way to track trends and data from previous missions and use this to improve on future operations.

The Assessment process according to the (Department of the Army 2012) is the progress toward accomplishing a task or achieving an objective. MOEs are important in measuring the effectiveness of the organization and MOPs are also vital when it comes to performance of various sectors in the organization such as leaders and workers. The above indicators are important to determine the development process of leaders. The combination of MOE and MOP are significant and every organization should advocate for them.
